7.7 Line/load regulation

A linear LED driver is sensitive to line and load variations as they affect the on-time of the

LEDs (which influences the emitted light) and the dissipation in the IC. To get a more

stable line/load regulation and a more constant IC dissipation, negative feedback is

available through the OV pin. The feedback reduces the LED current as the mains current

voltage increases, stabilizing the IC dissipation. Zener diode ZOV and resistor ROV

(see Figure 3) can set the starting point and the sensitivity of the feedback.

Figure 6 shows the calculated effect of this feedback and with resulting line/load

regulation.
